Happy Birthday!!!

Bethany,

From the first time I saw you in our Institute class I knew I wanted to get to know you better.  And after 9 years of marriage and 3 (maybe 4 by now) kids, I continue to want to get to know you better and be with you more and more.  I think that you are truly an amazing person and I have and can learn so much from you.

I think that you are the prefect role model for our little girls and I hope that Brad will one day find a girl like you to marry in the temple.

You have been a most support wife with my career and the many moves.  So much that I feel that this is not my career, but truly our career.  Every promotion and raise is in part due to you.

Surely we have had our ups and downs, but the ups have been the greatest ups ever.

It seems like a lot of your friends and family have liked this list thing as a way to remember you, so I'll give it a try.  Things I love and remember the most about the years I've know you (not in any other):

  1. Meeting in institute
  2. Every time you tell the story of how you felt when I spoke in the fireside
  3. The whale watching trip on our honeymoon
  4. All the MLB games
  5. The Trip to DC
  6. Meeting your uncle Vern
  7. That fast Vegas Temple Trip from Cedar
  8. Our Wedding
  9. The Bike trip that we got lost on
  10. Finding out that we were pregnancy with Belle
  11. Looking through your scrapbook at pictures of your dad and deciding to name Belle after his mother
  12. Finishing the Book of Mormon Challenge in the hospital that night Abby was born
  13. Finding out that we were pregnant with a boy, Brad
  14. Preparing for Lizzy to come
  15. Cramming in that Bethel Duplex for two years
  16. The friendships we built together in Sherman
  17. Watching every game of the 2007 Red Sox postseason together
  18. You helping me with my writing

And many, many more.

I love you Bethany and our children love you, Happy Birthday.

Love,

Danny, Belle, Abby, Brad and maybe Lizzy is here by now

Happy Birthday!

Dear Bethany,

Happy Birthday!
I just want to tell you what an amazingly special person you are. Every week you send out emails about the lessons and I truly love your inspirational message you send with them. Especially, since I never get to go to Relief Society myself, it helps me to still feel connected. I am just in awe as to how you do it all! I have enjoyed the conversations we've had, and I just think you are an incredible mother and person. Know that you have influenced and inspired not just me, but all the sisters in ward! Have an awesome birthday!

Fwd: SHHHHH...Bethany's 30th B.day Surprise!!!!!

Danny,
Here is my story for Bethany's book.  Sorry it's late....hopefully it will make the cut!  Thanks, Brooke

I first met Bethany right after she moved to Connecticut.  We bonded over our JetBlue husbands and became friends.  In the fall of 2007 Bethany was 8 almost 9 months pregnant with Bradshaw and I was about 8 weeks pregnant with Carter.  We had started a tradition of a combined Cox/Rodgerson family dinner and attempt at Family Home Evening every Monday night.  I was in the oh-so-sick-I-can't-do-anything-stage of pregnancy and Bethany was in the final stretch with her 3rd pregnancy plus 2 other children.  I remember one Monday night I was suppose to cook dinner but I felt too sick to do anything.  Bethany showed up at my house with Belle and Abigail and eveything she needed to make dinner.  Even though it was hot and she was tired and pregnant she still made dinner for both of our families without a second thought or complaint.  In fact complaining is something I never hear Bethany do.  Our weekly dinners had to end because we moved out of the country but I loved them when we had them and I'll never forget what a kind friend Bethany was to me during that time and continues to be today.  Happy Birthday Bethany and hopefully one day when we're both done having kids and they're grown a little we'll eventually get to go on that cruise....with or without children!!

Fwd: SHHHHH...Bethany's 30th B.day Surprise!!!!!

I love, love, love Bethany.  She's an amazing woman with a cup that runneth over with love, talents, charity......the list could go on and on and on!

Hope you guys are doing well!

Fwd: SHHHHH...Bethany's 30th B.day Surprise!!!!!

Happy 30th Birthday Bethany.  What a beautiful, fun little girl you were.  You really kept us all hopping to keep up with you but you were always delightful and ready to find fun and mischief.  It has been a joy and privilege to watch you grow up and be part of all your activities-- school, social, church, hobbies, and friends that make up your life.   You have made my life much fuller and richer because I've been able to be involved with you and your activities which I've enjoyed tremendously.  I remember taking you skiing and how brave you were.  Your talent with sewing and seeing how you love to create beautiful things has been a joy for me.  My mother was a beautiful seamstress and thought it important that we learn these skills and pass them on which I'm sure you will do.  You had  rough start playing the piano because of one of your teachers but I remember how lovely it was to hear you and Carol-Lyn playing Christmas Carol piano duets at Christmas time at Sister Calls piano recitals.  Now you are passing this love of music on to your children.  I've spent many enjoyable hours watching you play ball and always loved your chipmunk smile--as Papa Larry calls it.  I've very impressed with how diligently you've studied the scriptures and how bravely and capably you taught seminary when you weren't much older than  the students, and how closely you  live your life to the Lord's will.  The commitment you've made to attend the temple monthly in spite of the challenges you have in getting there is commendable and I know because of your commitment you will be able to keep your children and you from harm as the Lord will protect you.

I miss having you so far away but I appreciate the opportunities I have to visit you a few times a year and hope that we may continue this tradition.  I know you are having your family close together and it is a challenge without me or any of your  family around to provide you support and occasional babysitting but you are a special mother and have been given beautiful children that only you can guide and direct in the loving way Christ would have you do.  I love D&C 50:40 and think of you when I read it.  We have been given the blessing that none of our covenant children will be lost and that is huge blessing for all of us in this life filled with such challenges.

I love and appreciate you and the love and support and kind words and thoughtful cards you've given me over my life.  Love MOM

Bethany's Big 30th Birthday

Bethany,

It has been almost 19 years since I first meet you. You were in grade
school with a wish for Gerbeau jeans for christmas. Oh how how you
have grown in those 19 years. I watched you grow up playing softball
for your sister Wendy. Going of to college in southern Utah. Meeting
your husband and now having four children. You have grown in the
gospel of Jesus Christ and are now teaching your own family the values
that you hold dear to yourself. You have shown that you can be a good
wife and mother to those that you care most about.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND LOOK FORWRD TO THE FUTURE.

MIKE

Happy 30th!!

Bethany,

Wow! I can't believe the baby of the family is turning 30!! That means
I am getting quite old as well! It has been such a wonderful adventure
watching you grow up. I was so excited when Mom and Dad brought you
home from the hospital. Being 9 years old, I just took over for Mom. I
loved feeding you and even changing your diapers. I was especially
excited that we now had a new invention-disposable diapers. I didn't
have to worry about sticking you with a pin trying to get a cloth
diaper on. You were such a perfect little baby until you reached 9
months old. I will never forget how excited we all were when you
decided to take your first steps in the church on the day of Dad's
funeral. We have been chasing you ever since. Once you started walking
you got into everything. Your strong personality began to emerge. You
were so full of energy and wished to explore everything, besides being
extremely independent. You definitely wanted to figure things out for
yourself.

Car rides were such an adventure as you would not sit still. You loved
climbing back and forth from the backseat to the front. I really think
car seats were invented because of you. Mom finally bought a booster
seat and had some sort of seat belt installed to keep you tied up. I
think it is such a blessing that you had 4 older siblings to keep
track of you. While we lived on the farm, our biggest fear was that
you would wander off and fall in the creek that ran near our house. We
each took turns shadowing you making sure we knew where you were at
all times.

It is such a good thing we had such great neighbors in Provo. Everyone
on our street knew who you were because you were always visiting them.
It just took us a little time to figure out which house you were at.
Usually it was next door at the Johnsons. You and Jill were like twins.

Church was such an adventure. Getting you to sit still was out of the
question. You wandered up and down the aisles and sat with whomever
you wanted. If we tried to get you, you just took of running and would
scream at the top of your lungs.

I will never forget when you sliced your tongue from falling on the
hearth or sewing your finger and the black eye you got from jumping
off of the dresser onto the bed-only you missed and hit the corner of
the night stand. Your eye and side of your face was so black and blue,
Mom refused to let you out of the house for fear someone would think
she beat you!

Some of my favorite memories are of Timpview Softball. I so enjoyed
coaching you all four years you were there. Your freshman year was
especially great because Carol-Lyn was on the team as a senior. We
spent so much time together everyday.

I'll be honest, I was very glad you finally graduated. That meant no
more nights of you coming over to our Orem house getting help with
math-that was the easy part-or agonizing over your English papers. At
least in college the papers were spread out and it wasn't a nightly or
weekly occurrence.

Some of my favorite memories of your teen and college years are:
* Courtney and I traveling with you to Kansas City for a softball
tournament. Courtney was only about 16 months old
* Moving you into your apartment at Dixie. Remember going shopping at
DI for a dresser?
* Spending part of Thanksgiving in St. George and meeting Danny for
the first time.
* Convincing you that you could be happy living on a teachers salary,
there were other stores besides the GAP and shopping at Walmart would
be fine.

You are such a wonderful wife and mother. It has been so fun watching
you mature in these roles. You are so thoughtful, kind and caring. You
have made great use of the strong personality you were blessed with. I
am so impressed with the woman you have become. What a great example
you are to me. You have such a cute family. I only wish you were
closer so we could interact more personally instead of just over the
phone or by email. What a blessing you are in our family!

I love you so much and wish you another happy 30 years!

Wendy

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SPECIAL ONE

You are such special aunt. I hope you have a happy birthday you are
so kind to us.

Dear Bethany,

The BIG 30!

Bethany- Congratulations on the big day! Two important dates in one month. A new baby girl and turning 30! I couldn't wait to turn 30. To have the number "3" in front of my age was exciting to me. I felt more grown-up, mature and ready to take on the world all over again.

I'm so fortunate to have a friend like you. It's funny how our paths crossed in Texas, were separated by life and career changes, and then here we are again living just two hours from each other. You, Danny and the kids are family to me. I'm thankful to have you so close when my family is so far away. When the holidays come and I think about how to spend them, I always want to pack a bag and drive to your house to be with you and the kids. I still remember when you first moved into your new home in Texas and you didn't want to go in the backyard because the bugs were "big". I remember visiting you in the hospital after you had Belle, numerous dinners and cookouts, blessings, coloring my hair for the first time and wondering what shade it would come out, visits to Utah, skiing at Brighton, lunches at Five Guys and my all time favorite is making sugar cookies with you and the girls. Wow, we've had so many good times filled with smiles and laughter. I look
forward to sharing many more with you while we both grow and experience our 30's. No matter where our lives take us or how many miles are between us, I know we will always be close friends.

Love you,
Chandra

My Baby Sister is 30!?!

Growing up with you was always an adventure. Between the two of us, we've been through a lot of good times. Here are some of my favorite memories of us:

1. Lighting the weeds on fire between our house and Mr. Mahon's house. Was it you who struck the match I gave you? We were always good at getting in trouble together.
2. I was too shy to go ask the Candy Lady for a treat, but not you. I remember the first time we went together. I think I said something like "I heard this lady gives away candy." You said, "Oh, yeah. I've been here lots."
3. Riding our bikes at our new house on the hill was such an adventure. I have a picture in my mind of looking over at you as we raced down Windsor with your brown hair flying, your cheeks pink and a huge grin on your face.
4. We used to go to the Olliviers to jump on the trampoline. I loved to give the biggest bounces, but no one could take the bounce like you. You would be so excited and we would time it perfectly. You would fly so high in the air and we would laugh and laugh.
5. Speaking of laughing and laughing and the Olliviers ... I almost forgot about the contests we had on their deck to see who could make everyone laugh so hard the homemade rootbeer came out our noses.
6. When you were in fourth grade and I was in sixth grade, we had recess at the same time and I loved it when you came to play kick ball with my group.
7. Playing softball was the most fun when we were on the same team, so it's good that we were on the same team most of our lives.
8. When I came home from my mission, you were amazing. In 18 months you went from being a teenager to all grown up.
9. One of the best Thanksgiving dinners ever was the one we made together at your Cedar City apartment.
10. Seeing what an amazing mom you've become is a huge inspiration to me and your children are such a great reflection of you, your personality and your talents.

Happy Birthday Little Sister!

Love,
Carol-Lyn

Happy 30th Bethany!!

Happy 30th Birthday Bethany!!!! Congratulations on the big day!  I wanted to thank you for you kindness and friendship.  I can honestly say you were the first friend that I had here in CT.  I really enjoyed our walks at Meckauer Park last year and getting to know you.  Every day we walked I became even more amazed at what an incredible and talented person you are.  In fact, I really start to feel quite inferior!  You always look so beautiful (pregnant or not) and the light within you always shines through.  It's not hard to tell that you are an extremely caring and selfless person.  You have the ability to make others feel comfortable and appreciated.  Remember how you would bring me lunch after watching Bradshaw for like an hour?!  So unnecessary but it didn't surprise me that you would do something so sweet.  I hope you have an amazing birthday and realize just how special you are to so many people!

Heidi Annison

Happy 30th Bethany!

Happy Birthday, Bethany!  I think you are so amazing.  I will never forget your kindness when I first moved to Danbury last year.  You went out of your way to make me feel welcome by inviting me to the baby shower at Rosy Tomorrow's and even picking me up and taking me there!  That meant the world to me at a time when I felt so out of place.  You've continued to be a good friend by inviting me to the park for playdates, caring for my kids while I had to take Claire to the doctor (remember when I thought she broke her nose?), and by doing temple exchanges with us - and watching our kids at Central Park even when Danny couldn't make it with you.  You are so sweet and beautiful.  I hope your thirtieth birthday is awesome!

Love,
Kim Scriber

P.S.  I hope I'm not too late for this!

Birthday mssg from the Wiser's

Happy Birthday Bethany!!

We are so excited for you to be 30 with us! It has been so fun for Danny and Travis to continue their friendship after their mission. And in doing so, we feel like we've gained a whole new set of friends with you and your darling family. Kennedy is constantly referring to her friend Belle "who came to visit". And we love keeping up with your family on facebook and through Christmas cards.
We will always remember visiting with you at the nursing home in Cedar City-we had so much fun with you, and you were great with your patients. One day we might live closer, but until then you are always welcome to a bed at our house and we will continue to cherish our visits with you and your family.
Thank you for helping us stay connected.
Love the Wiser family

Fwd: SHHHHH...Bethany's 30th B.day Surprise!!!!!

Auntie Cheree said...

Hi Bethany,
I want to wish you a very happy birthday. You should know that on your 30th birthday you are just getting started in life. You're still a young chick!
As you know, Danny was like a member of our family as he was growing up. He just blended in with my other kids and kept me entertained. I was happy when he met you and you two became a couple. You are such a wonderful person and you have been good for Danny. I think your children are adorable and my only regret is that we don't get to see you and your family more often.
Continue to be the great wife and mother that you are and you will enjoy many more blessings in the years ahead. Sometimes the rewards for being a diligent mother don't show up for quite a few years, but when they do come, it makes the sacrifices all worth while. Much love to you.

Fw:Now can I go to Jayden's
